Still pretty sad.

But I have to tell you we had the coolest bird come in as a stray today (her owner was nuts…)

It was a Conure, which I know nothing about. But it sure was cute, and I named it tie-dye. I’ll post some pictures.

The cool thing about the shelter is I’m so much more comfortable with all animals. I can read them so well. The second I saw the bird I watched her behavior, reached out my hand and told her to step up. And she did. She used her beak first. Most people thought she was trying to bite, but you could tell in her eyes she wasn’t trying to be mean, she just needed it for support.

I felt really accomplished, I feel much more confident in animal handling now. I used to see a bird and pretty much hide cause I didn’t want to have to touch it, now I feel like I could walk into anything with an idea on how to read the animal.

Such an experience, working here.

Cali Transfer

What a great experience to be a part of.

These dogs just can’t get the care they need in cali. They come to us covered in ticks, kennel cough, mats…

And we trim them up and give them a kiss and they just love.

They are the sweetest dogs we bring in. It’s like they know they got a good deal.

The way their eyes light up when they get to play in our big backyard, how they wiggle and wiggle when they get to go on their first walks.

It is sad to me because there isn’t meaness in dogs. They are just good. Sometimes they are scared, or they are doing their job, but it is all for us.

So much love in their eyes you can just see into their hearts when they smile at you.

What a blessing it is to have this job and be a part of saving lives.
